1.John’s narration

　　约翰的叙述

　　The episode opens up with John Watson narrating the events that led him to Sherlock Holmes, and like before, is based on A Study in Scarlet. What many might not know is that some of the narration comes straight from the first chapter of the novel.

　　影片一开始，约翰·华生对于事件的叙述引领着他走向夏洛克·福尔摩斯。和之前一样，这也是根据《血字的研究》改编的。许多人可能不知道，这段叙述是小说第一章中的原文。

　　2.The Criterion

　　Criterion饭店

　　In Bride, Stamford and John have a drink at the Criterion, a real restaurant that still stands in Piccadilly Circus today. The original stories had Stamford and Dr Watson meet at the very same place on New Year’s Day in 1881.

　　影片中，斯坦福和约翰在Criterion饭店小酌，这家餐馆是真实存在的，如今还屹立在皮卡迪利广场呢。原著中，斯坦福和华生教授在1881年的新年之际相遇，地点就是Criterion饭店。

　　3. The Strand Magazine

　　John stops a magazine seller to find out how his latest story, The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle (a real Holmes story!) is selling because Watson has published his story in The Strand Magazine, the very same magazine that published some of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous tales.

　　约翰拦住了一个卖报人，问问他的最新文章《蓝色石榴石》(真实的福尔摩斯故事)的售卖情况，因为华生在《海滨杂志》上出版过故事文章。而阿瑟·柯南·道尔一些著名的侦探故事也是在这份杂志上发表的。

　　4.”Illustrator, he’s out of control.”

　　Sidney Paget was the real life illustrator for The Strand Magazine. He essentially created an image of the detective that’s still the defining visual reference for Holmes today. However, the deerstalker hat and Inverness cape that Holmes wears in his illustrations were never actually mentioned by Conan Doyle.

　　西德尼·佩吉特在现实中就是《海滨杂志》的插图画家。他当初创造出了福尔摩斯的画像，而他笔下的福尔摩斯画像如今依然被当做参考。但是，柯南·道尔从未提过福尔摩斯穿戴猎鹿帽和圆领披风。

　　5. Waltz for John and Mary

　　约翰和玛丽的华尔兹

　　While Mary confronts John for not telling her where he is, Sherlock attempts to block out the sounds of their argument by playing the violin. The tune he plays is “Waltz for John and Mary”, which he composed as a wedding present for the couple.

　　玛丽见到不愿告诉她自己身处何方的约翰时，夏洛克试图通过拉小提琴来遮盖两人的吵闹声。他拉得曲子就是“约翰和玛丽的华尔兹”，这首曲子是他当初为这对夫妇的婚礼创作的。
